The 2024 release of the IWC Portugieser Automatic series by APS Factory brings new upgrades to an already iconic design. This latest version of the “Portugieser Seven Days” (Portuguese Automatic) introduces comprehensive detail enhancements.
1、Case: The new Portuguese Automatic maintains its 42.4mm case diameter while successfully reducing the thickness from 14.1mm to 13mm. This 1mm difference is significant, as 13mm is often considered the threshold for a dress watch’s comfort and slimness. This upgrade ensures that the watch fits perfectly under the cuff and avoids the criticism of being bulkier than a dive watch.
2、Crystal: To achieve a slimmer profile, IWC utilizes a dome-shaped sapphire crystal. This design not only provides the hands with extra room to move but also significantly enhances the watch’s visual appeal. APS Factory goes the extra mile by using a dome-shaped sapphire crystal on the case back as well, offering an unobstructed view of the movement’s intricate beauty.
3、 Dial: The dial design sees notable changes compared to previous models. The new version removes the track-style scale on the small seconds sub-dial at 9 o’clock. Additionally, the “1” area of the power reserve indicator at 3 o’clock no longer features the red color. These subtle adjustments result in a cleaner, more refined look, emphasizing the overall cohesiveness of the dial.
